The Season of the Infernal Hordes has almost arrived within Diablo 4, bringing with it Hellbreach Dungeons, new uniques and legendary items, Battle Fell Priests, and more!

Season of the Infernal Hordes Release Date

Season of the Infernal Hordes will debut within Diablo 4 on August 6th, 2024.

Infernal Hordes

Infernal Hordes is a new wave-based feature available in Seasonal and Eternal realms beginning with World Tier III after completing a Questline. It can be participated in solo, or with friends - the choice is yours! To access the Infernal Hordes, earn or craft Infernal Compasses from various types of end-game content.

Infernal Compasses can be used at the following levels/World Tiers:

• Tier I
  • Available at World Tier III
• Tier II
  • Available at World Tier IV
    • Includes Bonus Affixes which increase crafting materials, and Legendary and Unique Drop rates
• Tier III
  • Available at Level 100
    • Includes Bonus Affixes
    • Includes Spoil of Greater Equipment

Between waves of enemies, you'll select an Infernal Offering which can augment your run in a positive or negative way. Depending on your choices, the deadliness of the enemies and by proxy the quality of your eventual rewards can increase exponentially. Be careful though, as you'll have limited revives.

As you fight, you'll earn Burning Aether which can be used after a run concludes to unlock various rewards. Burning Aether can also unlock Spoils of Hell that give you items with a Greater Affix, various summoning materials, and a chance to unlock the new Uniques and Legendaries. There will be four different Spoils of Hell available on completing your Infernal Hordes run:

• Spoils of Equipment
• Spoils of Materials
• Spoils of Gold
• Spoils of Greater Equipment

Eventually you'll complete the final wave, and confront the Fell Council which is comprised of Priests with unique deadly attacks.

Fell Priests

There are 5 Fell Council members in total, and each one has unique abilities it can use against you. Every time you fight the Fell Council, 3 out of the 5 members will be selected at random as your opponents. As you deal damage, they will frenzy more and more, resulting in a tougher and tougher fight the closer you get to victory.

Hellbreach Dungeons

Hellbreach Dungeons can be found in Seasonal Realms, and allow you to access one of the events available within Infernal Hordes. Defeat the enemies within and select an Infernal Offering, then kill the final boss. You'll then need to spend your Burning Aether on chests within the dungeon before leaving, as the currency will disappear upon leaving.

Of Lambs and Wolves Seasonal Questline

Seasonal Progression will begin in World Tier I or II, and to begin you'll need to speak with Captain Cireska in Zarbinet to set off on this continuation of the storyline.

During the "The Eyes of the Enemy" questline, you'll be introduced to the Infernal Hordes feature, and you'll need to speak with the cityfolk in Hawezar in World Tier III.

General Updates

Helltide

• Baneful Hearts drop with increased abundance across Chests, World Bosses, and are now guaranteed to drop from Helltide Commanders
• The cost to fight the Blood Maiden in World Tiers I and II has been decreased
• Tortured Gifts now cost 75 Cinders

Uniques

• Every Unique in the game has been updated
• Uber Uniques will be now known as Mythic Uniques
  • Drop with a distinct beam of light to help them stand out

Legendaries

• Legendary Drop chances are increased past Level 100 when playing in Helltide, Nightmare Dungeons and Infernal Hordes

Experience Gain

• The additional base Experience gained when killing monsters at a higher level has been increased from 10 to 30 levels higher than yours

Enchanting

• Enchanting no longer requires Angel’s Breath, and relies on the respective salvage from Legendary items instead

CC Effects

• Crowd Control from enemies is reduced, and you can now use potions while Crowd Controlled
